Miroslav Michael Đorđević was a founder and the Foundation’s first lifelong president. His philanthropic work and commitment to the development of Serbian society created a legacy the Foundation continues today.
The Foundation was established by respected members of the Serbian diaspora in the United States with the idea of passing knowledge, experience and success on to younger generations.
The Foundation is named after the renowned Serbian Studenica Monastery, founded in 1190, which for centuries was a center of Serbian literacy and learning.
Studenica Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is a symbol of learning, endowment-building and Serbia’s philanthropic tradition.
The Foundation received the monastery’s blessing to use the Studenica krst — znak graditeljstva, rasta i napretka.
The Foundation has governing structures in the United States and Serbia, supported by a network of advisers, associates and professionals who contribute to its work.
